Restaurants in Mars Hill, NC
The town of Mars Hill has a restaurant right in downtown on the Main Street and close by for those who are visiting the Mars Hill University campus or attending a SART Play at Owen Theatre. The best pizza and Italian food in the area is served at Papa Nicks. Or, you can enjoy a southern dish at one of the other restaurants nearby. A few of the fast food chains provide a quick stop if you are just passing by on the Interstate, but you are missing a real opportunity if you don’t drive just that one mile to Main Street to try out their local restaurant.
Little Creek Cafe
Home-style cooking in a cozy atmosphere. Locals remember the cooking of the late Edna Boone who was famous for her home cooking when she ran the cafe for 43 years. The current owners try to keep up that reputation. And, locals still crowd the place during lunch for the standard southern fare of meat and 2 vegetables with a drink and dessert. But, don’t forget about the breakfast biscuits.
Main Street Burrito
You know right away when you walk in the door that owners Dawn and Michael have put their hearts into their business. Their menu offers what their mission says– “quality, fresh food at good prices.” Add to that a “fun environment” and you have the formula for their restaurant. A choice of dips for your chips, a great variety of burrito flavors and rice & salad bowls are “what’s inside” waiting for you. Open Monday through Thursday from 11AM to 8PM, Friday & Saturday from 11am to 9pm.
The Original Papa Nicks Pizza
Debi Nikla carries on the family tradition started by her dad and mom, Jerry and Lila Nikla, of serving up the best Italian food and pizza in town. Walk in and smell those garlic rolls and you will know that you are in the right place! The restaurant side offers an expanded menu. Pizza, pasta, hot sub sandwiches and more are available. The Take Out section serves up pizza and other menu offerings to eat on the outside deck or to take home and enjoy. Open Wednesday through Saturday from 11am to 9pm (or 8pm during the Winter). Sunday from 1pm to 8pm.
Named after a historic community in Madison County, Stackhouse allows you to absorb the history while feasting on your own creations. Pick from burgers, chicken, BBQ choices and then choose toppings to “stack” onto your main choice inside the bun. House creations named after local sites are available if you can’t make up your mind. Local beers, local food, and local folks makes a great mix and that is what owners Nathan and Jordan McMahan were aiming for. Open Monday through Saturday from 11am to 9pm.

Whether you are looking for grits for breakfast or gravy for dinner, you’ll find it on the menu. Not only comfort food but a comfortable atmosphere. Open 6am to 8pm Monday through Friday. Saturday 6am to 2pm. Closed Sunday.
