Fishing in Meadow Fork Creek, Madison County, NC

Fishing in Meadow Fork Creek, Madison County, NC

Located south of the town of Hot Springs, Meadow Fork is a tributary of Spring Creek which joins it about 6/10 mile south of the Bluff Community. It has a good population of native rainbow trout as well as the hatchery-supported trout. It is about 11 miles long and about 10 to 12 feet wide.

Tip: Best area to fish is from where the Meadow Fork joins Spring Creek to the area called “Winding Stairs” by the local folks. It gets its name because of a cascade of water that drops about 200-300 feet. This area stretches for about 3 to 4 miles and has the best pools.

Tip: You can find a few large brown trout in the 18-19” class here.

Directions: From Hot Springs, take Highway 209 for about 7 to 8 miles to the Bluff Community (marked by a sign). Turn right at Meadow Fork Road at the sign that says “Max Patch 10 miles.” The Creek parallels Meadow Fork Road.
