Fishing in Big Pine Creek, Madison County, North Carolina

Located in the Marshall area, Big Pine Creek is stocked with trout from March to June. After that, often the weather is too hot and the water too low to support the fish so it may not be stocked. This is a small stream which is about 8 to 10 feet wide and the fishing stretches from the French Broad River on Big Pine Road to the State Road 1151 bridge.

Tip: This is more of a run through meadows with not a lot of pools. It is also well suited to children to introduce them to the love of fishing. Best fishing is in April and May.

Directions: From Marshall, take 25/70 North to the community of Walnut. Turn left on Barnard Road. Take the road over the French Broad River where the name of the road changes to Big Pine Road. Big Pine Creek parallels Big Pine Road.
